4-22. METERING FUEL PUMP MAINTENANCE (CON'T).

a. REMOVAL

1. Remove fluid passage bolt (5), 3 washers (4), and 2

hoses (6) from metering fuel pump (3).

NOTE

Fluid passage bolt includes an

internal check valve.

2. Remove fluid passage bolt (8), 3 washers (7), and 2

hoses (9) from metering fuel pump (3).

3. Remove 3 nuts (10) and lockwashers (11) from

metering fuel pump (3). Remove metering fuel

pump and gasket (2) from injection pump drive

assembly (1). Discard gasket and lockwashers.

b. DISASSEMBLY

1. Remove capscrew (12) and washer (13) from metering fuel pump (3).

2. Remove cover (14), preformed packing (15), and strainer (16) from metering fuel pump (3). Discard

preformed packing.

WARNING

Dry cleaning solvent P-D-680 is toxic and flammable. Always wear protective goggles

and gloves, and use only in a well-ventilated area. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and

clothes, and DO NOT breathe vapors. DO NOT use near open flame or excessive

heat. The solvent's flash point is 100°F-130°F (38°C-59°C). If you become dizzy

while using cleaning solvent, immediately get fresh air and medical help. If solvent

contacts eyes, immediately wash your eyes and get medical aid.

3. Clean strainer (16) with dry cleaning solvent and a brush. Dry strainer with a rag.
